Functional neurosurgery integrates stereotactic and minimally-invasive neurosurgical techniques, including deep brain stimulation, for the focused treatment of movement-related disorders and pain.

Our program offers a precise, frame-based approach to implanting intracranial electrodes, using intra-operative recording techniques, for deep brain stimulation targeting the symptoms of Parkinson's disease, essential tremor and other movement-related conditions, in addition to chronic pain. Following implantation, standard post-operative high-resolution imaging is acquired for confirmation of electrode placement.

Of note, we work in close collaboration with movement disorder specialists, including neurologists, to properly and comprehensively identify potential surgical candidates who may benefit from intervention.
